Annette's Lakeland Kitchen
Annette’s delicious handmade chocolate cups are filled with flavoured ganache. Each wedding favour box can fit one or two chocolates, which you can mix and match. Chocolates are nestled in shredded tissue paper in the favour boxes.
Annette comes from a family with a love of confectionary, and a love of food generally. She always pays attention to detail and all the chocolate products she creates reflect that aspect of her personality.
But as with all things, the proof is in the eating.

History of Wedding Favours
The tradition of giving your guests a small gift in the form of what we know as a Wedding Favour is hundreds of years old.
It is believed that the first Wedding Favour was known as a bonbonniere - a small trinket box made of crystal, porcelain, or precious stones. These were limited to the European Aristocracy and Upper Classes, and usually contained sugar or confectionery which symbolised wealth and royalty.
At the time, sugar was an expensive delicacy which was only affordable by the wealthy, but as it became more widely available to those of lesser means the tradition of giving bombonnieres became more widespread.
Over time these were replaced with almonds, and for centuries almonds were commonly distributed to wedding guests to signify well wishes on the bridegroom’s new life. In the thirteenth century, almonds coated with sugar, known as confetti, were introduced. Confetti soon transformed to sugared almonds, which later evolved into the wedding favour for modern day weddings. Traditionally, five Jordan almonds are presented in a confection box or wrapped in elegant fabric to represent fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness.
These days, the gifts given to Wedding guests are known as Wedding Favours, and the tradition is popular among a wide variety of cultures worldwide. The huge range of options now available means that although many couples may choose the traditional almond favour, those who are looking for more unusual wedding favours are sure to find something suitable.
